2024 Sherel Nutt Memorial Scholarship Fund
At the January 2024 Annual Meeting, members of the Springfield Lake Shore Improvement Association (SLSIA) once again gave approval of the yearly Sherel Nutt Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The Sherel Nutt Memorial Scholarship is named after a long-time board member, Sherel Nutt, who believed in the preservation of Lake Springfield, volunteering for community service, achievement, and the future of our youth.
All graduating seniors attending a public or private school in the Springfield, Chatham, and Rochester School Districts (districts that border Lake Springfield) are eligible to apply. The senior does not have to live on Lake Springfield. The only requirement is that the student must continue their education this fall, either at a community college or a four-year college or university.
The Association has established a committee to review the applications. Grades, extra-curricular activities, community service, two letters of recommendation, and a written essay on “What Lake Springfield means to me” are the key elements of the application. Applications will be available at each high school in the Springfield, Chatham, and Rochester School Districts, or one can be downloaded here.
Application materials should be mailed to the address at the top of the application. All application materials must have a postmark date no later than April 15, 2024. No exceptions will be made. Scholarship awards will be announced in early May, prior to high school graduation.
